This awesome bonus is valid on purchases made between the 13th of June 2017 and 27th of June 2017 so get in quick! This is a register to redeem promotion so once you’ve geared up with your new hardware simple visit the website below and follow the steps along.
Now if you’re thinking to yourself 1440p is nice but why not 4K you’d be the same as us, sadly for reasons unknown the options with the game only go as high as 2560×1440? Lucky for us though a little tinkering within the config file allows you to set your own resolution 🙂
Here’s a quick 4K game capture with the GTX 1050 – this amazing little graphics card (exact settings shown at the end of the video) still manages to keep above 60FPS when in game and only dipped into the high 50’s during the replays – crazy cool!
If you’re wondering about laptopperformance rest assured things are looking just as good 🙂 Though it’s a little harder to find a 1440p screen on a laptop we managed to have a quick go with the new Gigabyte Aero 14 which packs a GTX 1060 inside and performance was excellent as you can see for yourselves below!
This promotion is valid from the 30th May till the 31st of July so get your details in and we’ll see you in the arena!
UPDATE: Promotion extended, now 1st June 2017 to 31st July 2017.
Asus Republic of Gamers have a sweet new bonus offer available now for those gearing up with selected ROG STRIX series motherboards, it’s BIG, RED and is the leading cause of dry skin in the world – a giant ROG towel \o/
With all the rain lately in NZ this promo really couldn’t have come at a better time, when summer returns it’ll also be great for the beach, it’s certainly easy to spot 🙂
Asus ROG STRIX motherboards have killer looks and an all important feature which allows you to control a host of RGB devices from a single software package – we’ve done some special builds to demonstrate this and we know you’ll agree, when building a PC around Asus AURA RGB things really do look good!
Getting your ROG bonus is pretty easy, once you’ve geared up with your killer new motherboard simply visit the ASUS Redemption Site to fill in your details on the form below.
Not all the motherboards listed in this promotion on the Asus website are available in NZ right now and others have just arrived making them a little hard to find, below are quick links so you can check them out – we’ll add to this as more arrive 🙂
Heroes of the Storm has had a massive update, the game now has a much better level up progression system, a new battleground, and, of course, loot chests!
The Nexus Challenge 2.0 also begins and as a reward for playing some Heroes of the Storm you can unlock a new new skin for D.Va in Overwatch (available in week two, but you have complete week one’s challenge as well) + this event will also give us another chance to secure the Oni Genji skin which was up for grabs back in November when the first Nexus challenge event was revealed. With this one a new quest will unlock each week and only one can be active at any given time – complete all four quests to get your bonus. This event is set to run until May 22.
Quest 1 is now live – Play 5 games with a friend in Versus A.I., Quick Match, Unranked, or Ranked. This will unlock a Orochi Hovercycle, Warbanner, Spray and Portrait for Heroes of the Storm + the Oni Genji Skin, Player Icon and Spray for Overwatch.
Quest 2 is set to begin on May3rd (NZ), again we have to Play 5 games with a friend but this time no A.I. so it’s just Quick Match, Unranked, or Ranked. (remember to complete quest 1 first!) and the DV.A skin that’s up for grabs is pretty awesome looking, turning our mech into an awesome police robot of justice – along with this you’ll also get a pretty sweet police themed hovercycle mount to use in Heroes of the Storm 🙂
The event finishes itself off with some Lootboxes to crack open, the first 10 for Heroes of the Storm followed by another 10 for Overwatch.
Let the grind begin! We’ll be on our new GGPC Twitch channels if you want to check these things out, you can actually get the first 5 wins really quickly by entering matches against the Ai, don’t worry if you don’t have any friends on – local chat is full of peeps looking for groups to smash out the event and unlock the new skins 🙂 Even a loss counts so don’t worry if you get smashed.
Just don’t forget to friend up or it won’t count towards the match totals to get these sweet unlockables!
As usual the hardest part is going to be deciding which game to choose, so let’s take a closer look at both options.
First up – Ghost Recon: Wildlands!
Bolivia, a few years from now. The country has become the largest cocaine producer in the world. The Santa Blanca drug cartel has turned the country into a narco-state, leading to lawlessness, injustice, and violence. The Ghosts, an elite US Special Forces team, is sent behind enemy lines to wreak havoc and takedown the cartel.
This one enjoyed the largest turnout during the Ubisoft open beta phase and is best played with a group of friends, if you find yourself in solo queue being a helicopter pilot or driver for a bunch of randoms is still pretty darn fun as well!
Next up – For Honor!
This new hack’n’slash capture’n’hold game proved itself early on with some very beautiful graphics and a slick melee battle system that had us ramming our way through the ranks to take on opposing warriors in fierce hand to hand (or blade to blade) combat.
Many, many hours have been spent in For Honor at GGPC NZ, the matches often become fantastically close battles with the skill based player matching systems working very well indeed – this one is truly exceptional if you play often, you’ll start to recognise opponents from previous encounters in game and the focus shifts from an all out battle to hunting each other down relentlessly with some face-offs lasting the entire round.
This is a register to redeem promotion, once you’ve got your awesome new hardware simply visit the registration sites as below depending on your chosen flavour, enter the details as prompted and you’ll get a game code via email 🙂
Many of us are already running around in Mass Effect Andromeda now, screaming “WE COME IN PEACE!” while unloading our weapons into anything that moves 😛 For others this weekend will be filled with Sci-Fi adventures and exciting co-op matches within APEX \o/
If you’re looking for some more cosmetic options to use in game the Andromeda Initiative has a free helmet and vehicle skin you can claim by learning a bit about the Mass Effect universe, and your place within it. You can visit the Andromeda Initiative Website here, in order to unlock the helmet you’ll have to watch 6 short training videos (which are pretty cool) – unlocking the Nomad vehicle skin is as easy as signing up the for newsletter 🙂
You’ll have to reach EOS (the first planet you’ll travel too when you get to free roam) in order to use the items in game, once you’ve got your ground vehicle go to your personal quarters on the Tempest (your super cool space ship) and look for the skin next to the email terminal – you’ll find the helmet in your bedroom on the Tempest as well \o/ We’re not sure how long these will be available for so get in quick and nab them while you can!
You can also still check out the game before you buy within EA’s Origin game launcher (download button is hidden on the left) – this has a paid subscription feature called Origin Access that will allow to jump into the galaxy with a limit set at 10 hours of game time – the timer ticks only when you are in the game so don’t worry about a lengthy download chopping into this. We rushed this one to see how far into things the game trial went and hit the end around 2 hours in, so feel free to take some time and explore 🙂
You’ll find the game within your Origin Launcher under the Origin Access tab, once you click it to start the download (40GB) it’s going to be added to your regular game library so it’s easy to find! If you do decide to keep going and buy the game all your progress will carry over + you won’t have to download another client, this one simply converts to the full game \o/
We’ve jumped into this one with a range of Gaming PC to check things out for ourselves and had a blast getting into fights around the universe – keep your eyes on the GGPC YouTube for the latest!
For us here at GGPC the exciting world of PC Gaming splits into two separate parts, the first being all the wonderful components we get to test out when reviewing new tech and the second being actually playing games on the completed systems for fun, our YouTube channel and now eSports thanks to competitive gaming events \o/
For system designers and builders there are literally thousands of component options to choose from, and within each component type there are masses of variants available for each with slightly tweaked voltage configurations, ascetic options and more. Luckily for everyone involved in this process the biggest players at the heart of the manufacturing side like Asus, ASrock and Gigabyte have excellent technicians that make lists available showing which parts they’ve certified for themselves. This certification sometimes carries on to the extreme level, when it does the item actually gets a special badge added to the specific hardware involved – items like these killer Asus Republic of Gamers RAM kits 🙂 These are certified versions of Team Group T-FORCE Dark memory with the classic Mayan style heatsink and have passed ROG stress tests thus becoming T-FORCE Dark ROG overclocking modules. Having these along with a ROG motherboard’s optimizing Ai overclock function (update that bios!) will enable you to automatically tune these kits to ROG limits.
Further down the line there is yet another form of certification, this time as much from the players as it is the makers – like IEM (Intel Extreme Masters) which requires a system to meet certain specs in order to get the special badge. These usually have a set of guidelines that must be followed in order to be considered for certification, as you’d expect with the IEM ones these use specific gaming savvy intel CPU and Kingston RAM. Intel Extreme Masters is the longest running global pro gaming tour in the world. Started in 2006 by ESL, the competition features Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, StarCraft II and League of Legends tournaments across multiple continents with the next big CS:GO event scheduled for May 6th – 7th in Sydney, Australia.

Below is some spoiler free multiplayer gameplay with the RX480 in Doom on our own GGPC Ranger Gaming PC, we’ve turned the settings up past ultra with shadows set to nightmare and as you can see from the gameplay below – the AMD RX 480 handles this one with ease! Better still you can actually run the game with Vulkan and enjoy even greater performance!
The hardest part will be deciding which free game to choose! Let’s take a look at what’s on offer 🙂
First up – Maize
A first-person adventure game about what happens when two scientists misinterpret a memo from the U.S. Government and create sentient corn. And that last sentence is pretty much the least ridiculous thing about the game 😛
Next on the list – Raw Data
A made-for-VR high-octane combat experience combining elements of shooters with tower defense. Active VR gameplay involves your whole body as you put your wits, boldness and endurance to the test. Intuitive controls completely immerse you within the game world, from engaging with objects to pulling weapons off your body to strategically choosing your loadout. And all the while, you’ll be slashing, shooting, deflecting, ducking and dodging as you fend off waves of androids set to “kill.”
And the final choice – Redout
Redout is a tribute to the old racing monsters such as F-Zero, WipeOut, Rollcage, and POD. It is designed to be an uncompromising, fast, tough and satisfying driving experience, soaked in that vertigo that stands at the core of the arcade racing genre. The floating system and driving models are based on physics: each turn, slope, hard braking, acceleration, each turn and twist of the track will apply a unique force to the ship. A sharp low-polygon style blends meshes and terrains with the latest state-of-the-art shading and lighting effects provided by the Unreal Engine 4, creating beautiful and instantly recognisable aesthetics. Breezy coastlines, eerie frozen landscapes, vast desert plains: the melancholic, dystopian atmosphere of a semi abandoned Earth is the background for the most high-speed, tense and beautiful futuristic racing clashes.
Tough choices for sure but getting your game bonus is easy 🙂 Once you’ve got your awesome new hardware visit the Gigabyte Redemption Site or EVGA Redemption Site to register for your game code, you’ll then receive a special code by email and once you’ve got that visit the Nvidia Game Code website and enter it in 🙂
