GGPC GIGABYTE GTX 1070 LAPTOP NEVER FIGHT ALONE

A new saga begins for one of the most acclaimed video game franchises in history, GEARS OF WAR 4! After narrowly escaping an attack on their village, JD Fenix and his friends, Kait and Del, must rescue the ones they love and discover the source of a monstrous new enemy. Set 25 years after the Imulsion Countermeasure weapon destroyed all Imulsion and took with it the use of fossil fuels, forcing humanity to adapt new ways for survival – but hey, at least it took out the Locust and the Lambent as well right 😛  Following the aftermath of the Lambent Epidemic, the reformed Coalition of Ordered Governments estimated that only hundreds of thousands of humans are left on Sera. To prevent the population from declining, walled-off cities were built to protect the citizens from the dangers outside but tensions rise with a new faction known as the “Outsiders” who choose to live outside of the COG jurisdiction…

Getting you game code is easy, once you’ve got your awesome new hardware visit the registration page for Gigabyte, EVGA or Asus (depending on your chosen flavour 😛) and click the REDEEM button at the bottom of the pages, follow the steps along to register your new graphics card – once completed you’ll receive an Nvidia code via email and when you’ve got that simply visit the Nvidia redemption page and enter it in!

The promotion runs from today until October 30th, the game is a part of Xbox Play Anywhere so you’ll get a copy of the PC version and Xbox One also which is nice and also a bit clever as Gears of War 4 supports Cross Play across Xbox One and Windows 10 in all of the game’s modes – fun times ahead indeed!

Those fine folks @ Nvidia have uploaded some tasty 4K gameplay to tide us over until we get to try this one out for ourselves 😛

Custom PC Build NZ – Cooler Master Casemod 2016

Casemods2016NZ

UPDATE: Voting is now closed – thanks to everyone all the votes!

Voting has just begun for the 2016 Cooler Master Custom PC building competition and we’ve got two awesome custom PC builds for you to check out from New Zealand modders – Bennies “benwaki” Bolstad and Jason “bits” Lau!

For this competition there are two categories you can choose to enter, Ben and Jason have gone separate ways covering both with two very unique builds.

Starting out with the Scratch Build category we have what is possibly the worlds first open water featured live garden PC called the GG Terrarium.

“My scratch build project is a glass enclosed hexagon Terrarium PC with open water cooling to create a waterfall feature inside. A gardeners PC that can play a little league of legends :)”

Next up in the CaseMod category is a custom PC built using the Cooler Master MasterCase 5…  Well…  more accurately TWO MasterCase 5 and is aptly named ??A???T?AM | MASTERCASE

“This mod idea came about as I have always wanted a case with a straight-through airflow design with radiator/fan mounts on either side of the case(think of a tunnel with a push/pull fan on each side), as I believe this design would enable the absolute best in cooling performance and watercooling potential.”

This is achieved in this mod by combining parts from 2(!) Cooler Master Mastercase Pro 5 cases. The exterior panels from both cases are combined to make an almost mirror-symmetrical design (which is where the projects name comes from) while the interior is completely custom designed and made.

Good Graphics – GTX 1080 and 1070 Available NOW

UPDATE: The GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 available in New Zealand now!

UPDATE: Gameplay FPS Test playlists are live now for the GTX 1050, GTX 1060, GTX 1070, GTX 1080 and also GTX 1060 Laptop, GTX 1070 Laptop

Jumping straight into gaming the new GTX 1070 doesn’t disappoint, specs for this one are quite similar to the recently released GTX 1080 with a large memory allocation of 8GB GDDR5 (no X, that’s only with the 1080) and a boost clock speed of 1683MHz with slightly less cuda cores. Without overclocking this new GTX 1070 graphics card from Nvidia is capable of some extremely high end settings while gaming and even if you’re gearing up to go with a new GTX 1070 in a Gaming Laptop, performance is excellent!

With the desktop version of the GTX 1070 we started testing with a very affordable intel i5 combo and received a top score exceeding what is currently deemed necessary for a VR Ready Gaming PC 🙂  This is going to be a very popular graphics card indeed even if the video below is extremely boring to watch!

After our initial tests with the desktop GTX 1070 we updated our design from the i5-6400 we used originally to a slightly more powerful i5-6500 for our new GGPC Warlock GTX 1070 Gaming PC, this gave us a little more power balance (both CPU are great but the 6500 is certainly faster) and performance is now better in games like Assassins Creed. Check out our PC build on GGPC PC Part Picker if you’re looking to build a 1070 system yourself and are hunting for a starting point to tweak from 🙂

GGPC GIGABYTE GTX 1070 LAPTOP NEVER FIGHT ALONE

If you’re wanting to check out the GTX 1070 Gaming Laptop Virtual Reality Performance we’ve got the tests on GGPC YouTube Channel running both on battery and plugged into mains power to check out – spoilers – it passed both 😛

Below is DOOM from our GTX 1070 Gaming Laptop In-Game Framerate Playlist and if you’ve got some time you can check out a range of games with system stats shown top left and settings we used (always chasing 60FPS!) shown at the end of each gameplay 🙂

Moving onto the Desktop GTX 1080 we decided to do all tests at 3840×2160 resolution and chase 60FPS as always, we did this for a few reasons but mainly because if you’re after a GTX 1080 Gaming PC you’re probably wanting to play in 4K and also because too many attempts at 2560×1440 had us just selecting all ultra settings 😛

The Battlefield 1 BETA sure looks beautiful in 4K, the desert map was great fun and we can’t wait to do more tests when the full game releases, check out the new GTX 1080 Gameplay FPS Test Playlist for more performance tests in a range of games and let us know anything you’d like to see tested 🙂

So yes, it seems we’re in for some crazy times ahead!  Be sure to keep an eye on our YouTube Graphics Card FPS Channel to see more Graphics Cards in action!

Custom Gaming PC – Best of Computex 2016

ComputexNZ

The Computex 2016 expo was a showcase for some of the most talented modders in the world and while we were at the show hunting down new chassis, components and gaming gear we also took some time to meet the makers and see all the awesome custom PC they built!

There are a bunch of rig modding competitions with big prizes to inspire creativity so before we dive in here’s a bit more information about two of our favourites that you can participate in down here in New Zealand and Australia 🙂

CASE MOD WORLD SERIES 2016 ANZ EDITION

The Cooler Master Case Mod World Series ANZ edition was created to recognize and promote modders within our community. Three Winners from ANZ region will be selected after the Case Mod World Series 2016 concludes on the 8th of June.  There are two categories you could choose to enter, the first begin a case modification and the second is a to build a PC from scratch which is loads of fun!

CASE MOD 2016 INVITATIONAL

2016 Thermaltake CaseMOD Invitational Season 1’s modding theme is the Thermaltake Core P5 ATX Wall-Mount chassis. Participating modders have the choice of modding a single or dual build. Modders are given a special time frame to complete the build and are given an unlimited selection of Thermaltake products to mod and install on the build.

Now everyone knows what’s up let’s take a look at some builds!

This one is a rather cool build (lol couldn’t resist) from case modder Jenki – It takes Captain Americas shield and encases it within ice as it slices through the P5 – pretty crazy stuff and he’s even modded a gaming keyboard to match!

CaptainAmericaPCComputex2016

If you’re a fan the Gundam Anime you might have recognised this build right away, a creation by modder Von Carlo Rasonabe (Reapervon) this one is named “The Weapon of Mass Destruction” and it’s pretty massive!

GundamPCComputex2016

We also spotted an out of this world mod known as the BAHIA BLASTER by case modder Maciel Barreto, aside from the liquid coolant reservoir on the front it’s pretty hard to tell this one is a gaming PC!  Enermax had some of the best cable management of the show with an excellent Division custom build but the Gigabyte Mini-Gun PC was certainly the show stopper with its rotating barrel – check out this beast in action!

CustomPCComputex2016

These are just a small slice of what’s on show, other highlights included a very cool NZXT noctis chassis with a very impressive window graphics, there was a Ghost Busters LEGO PC complete with green goo and an incredible InWin S Frame lit up with Steampunk style.

Check out the GGPC Instagram for more pictures of awesome custom PC builds from modders around the world!

Good Graphics – Paragon Tests Begin!

Powerful heroes join the fray!  Changing the battle with new abilities and ultimates.  Paragon blasted its way into a new stage of testing with players allowed to share and stream gameplay from the latest MOBA game – it even has a built-in Replay System, making it easy to export to YouTube + a GIF creator so you can share your most glorious moments instantly, and even build guides for the community.

“But what about that message saying I can’t share gameplay!”

Don’t worry about that – it’s a glitch left over from the first round of testing as below in this Tweet from EpicGames addressing the confusing situation!

Allowed to stream

Phew!  We’ve begun testing this out with our Gaming PC and Gaming Laptops and as you’ll see below from our quick test with the Hero Gaming PC things are certainly looking good!

New Star Wars Outer Rim Gameplay

A new DLC pack drops this March taking us to the Outer Rim 🙂  Four new maps, two heroes and a game mode named Extraction which looks to be some sort of escort mission.  Also featured in the Outer Rim pack is some new weapons – the Relby V-10 rifle (where’s Bossk!) and the DT-12 blaster pistol, star cards – Scatter Gun, Dioxis Grenade and Adrenaline Stim and more.

With the graphics quality in Battlefront being among the highest we see in games out these days and these locations looking simple stunning in the trailer – we can’t wait to get in and check things out!

Okay … that made Greedo look cool.  But as for who shot who at the end – that definitely sounded like Hans blaster… right?

If you haven’t jumped into Star Wars Battlefront yet and are wondering what kind of hardware it takes to run a game that looks this amazing check out our gameplay FPS test from our Hero Gaming PC below!

Good Graphics – Far Cry Primal

Far Cry Primal takes us on a wild ride back to 10,000BC and in this stoneage world there will no machine guns or grenade launchers to hunt with, just arrows and our wits (plus a few friendly animals if you want to play that way 🙂  It’s taken some of our favourite parts of the previous titles and is a welcome additional to the already pretty excellent Far Cry series.

As we’ve come to expect from the Far Cry team, the landscape of Oros is pretty good looking indeed, from the dense lush forests to vast fields of drying grass where mammoths graze.  The animals have a wonderful fur effect to them as well and are animated realistically making that first sabre-toothed tiger rather frightening.  Of course these sweet effects are going to need some decent gaming hardware to power things and we’ve tested out our Gaming Laptop and Desktop Gaming PC ranges so you can check things out quickly and easily.

First up, a popular configuration for gamers with the GTX 960 Graphics Card + intel i5 quad core in our GGPC Assassin Gaming PC decimates the defenders of the first bonfire.

Next we’ll take to the snowy mountains with the 15.6″ GGPC G960 Gaming Laptop as we use every arrow, spear and club to conquer this Udam camp!

There’s a heap of cool of stuff to do in the game. If you’re in a relaxed mood a little light hunting is great and if as you explore the caves and mountains you’ll often find great moments and locations to get tangled up in.  When it comes to pure action raiding the outposts of rival tribes gets pretty exciting and you’ll have the chance to take on some pretty brutal leaders along the way – I don’t want to spoil things so I’ll stop writing now 🙂

There is a lot of fun to be had in the wilderness and you can check out even more (spoiler free) quick tests via our GGPC YouTube Channel.

GAME ON!
