Good Gaming Mouse

Good Gaming Gear – Logitech G PowerPlay Wireless Mouse Charging Mouse Pad!

UPDATE: PowerPlay incoming to NZ, expected with retailers this September!

Wireless Gaming Mice are good, the only real worry we have is that the charge might run out right at that critical moment when gaming, denying us our glorious Pentakill – which is why GGPC use wired mice in competitive play.

Over the years talented techs have researched and released a bunch of different methods and technologies to improve battery life of our wireless devices, offering up solutions like charging cables rather than docks so you can charge as you use it – but that’s not really the point of wireless now is it 😛 The perfect solution would be never having to plug in at all, and with induction chargers for Smartphones being a common thing now it’s plausible to have your mouse pad charge your mouse – right? The biggest issues apparently are around the requirement for very precise placement, and being unable to deliver charge while the device is moving.

or should we say “were“…

Those incredible engineers at Logitech G have figured it all out, they’ve got something totally new –  and they’re calling it POWERPLAY.

POWERPLAY creates an electromagnetic energy field over a large surface area – so you don’t have to rest your gaming mouse on a tiny charging target. This field is captured and transformed into charging current by the included POWERCORE module, which attaches magnetically to the underside of a compatible gaming mouse in place of the existing weight door. It’s designed to keep charging even through high-speed flick shots or lifting and repositioning, and its base is only 2mm thick – so it’s comfortable to use as a gaming surface, the induction charging works right through both the soft and hard mouse pads as well so whatever surface you want to use it’s going to be savvy 🙂

Logitech has made the setup process super easy, clipping in the POWERCORE battery bit into your mouse is done magnetically and this aligns to the charging points on the battery for you, you can press down on a little circle for quick release and hot-swap between the weightless POWERCORE included with POWERPLAY and the 10G weighted version that comes with the G703.

Currently, the technology is set to work with two of our favourite Logitech G Wireless Gaming Mice – namely the G900, and absolutely epic G403. Both are getting an update as well with the new POWERPLAY ready versions being named the new G903 and G703, in addition to that sweeeeet POWERPLAY compatibility, both of them feature upgraded microswitches rated to 50 million clicks (vs 20 million in the previous version).

Logitech G POWERPLAY is an amazing solution jamm packed with the latest technologies, but the best bit is how simple it is to set up and use, and how easily you’ll forget about the dark times…. when you used to have to charge your mouse 🙂

We’ll update with all the ETA details as stock makes its way to us here New Zealand, Keep your eyes on the GGPC PC Gaming Blog and our Logitech G Store for the latest!

Good Gaming Mouse – Getting into grips with the MasterMouse Pro L

Cooler Master MasterMouse NZ

UPDATE: The Cooler Master MasterMouse Pro L is available in New Zealand now!

Another awesome piece of gaming gear from Computex is here!

Arm yourself with the MasterMouse Pro L and customise your grip with modular top and side covers.  This new kind of gaming mouse reminds us a bit of the James Donkey 007 and includes 2x unique top covers combined with two pairs of magnetic side panels. This allows for several grip configurations so you can make a mouse that works best for you and the games you are wanting to play 🙂 Another cool bit is that Cooler Master have made 3D Print models for the MasterMouse Pro L available freely if you would like to make things for yourself, just like they did with the recently announced MasterPulse Headset.

Nearly every inch of the MasterMouse Pro L’s body is covered in a matte UV coating – this is highly durable and won’t peel, wear, or tarnish. Both of the main buttons are equipped with Omron switches guaranteed to last 20 million clicks and the cable has been built to endure even the most dedicated gamer 😛 We shall see CM… Challenge accepted!

The MasterMouse Pro L offers 8 programmable buttons that can be easily expanded up to 14+1 switch button thanks to the Storm Tactix function. Assign the Storm Tactix button based on your preference and press it to enable your secondary button functions. There is also a DPI switch which is found on the bottom right side of the mouse but even this can be reassigned to any other button, great news for the snipers among us who are looking to switch DPI levels on-the-fly.

On the inside you’ll find a PixArt PMW3360 optical sensor delivering up to 12000 DPI with no interpolation and no acceleration and a 32-bit ARM processor which allows you to record and play back complex macros, as well as save all of your settings for use on any computer without software, 512KB on-board memory allows you to take your macros with you wherever you go 🙂

If you do jump into the software package you’re in for a treat and can customize DPI levels, illumination, button functions and advanced sensor settings (lift of distance, angle snapping, angle turnability, sensitivity) within, you can also tweak the RGB lighting on the mouse wheel together with the back beam and then for both front sides – and then save up to five separate illumination profiles with multiple effects options and switch between them at will \o/

Cooler Master MasterMouse Software

Lucky for us we were able to get hands on with this one a little early and it’s very impressive! On that note we happily give this new breed of Cooler Master gaming mouse our GGPC recommends award – The MASTER MOUSE IS GOOD!

Good Gaming Mouse – The BEST in Logitech G Wireless

GGPC Wireless Mice are AWESOME

Wireless mice have come a long way and right now Logitech G have the two best options for gamers with the very affordable Logitech G403 Prodigy and premium Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum available 🙂

To be perfectly clear, wireless mice were not always this good – and getting them to this point sure took a while…  finally the latest wireless ones are as fast as their wired friends, and also have very nice lightweight feel to them \o/

The battery life for both is also really excellent, spanning over several days of heavy gaming without the need to charge but for a wireless mouse to beat out the wired competition it must be able to be charged conveniently as well, even in the middle of a game. For this there are no fancy external docks needed instead a USB cable connects to the front of the mouse turning it into a wired mouse while it charges – so no problem at all 🙂 Logitech Gaming Software can be used to customise the RGB LED lighting on both to further increase the time between charges, though we’d kinda miss having everything glowing away in perfect sync.

Speed wise they really are fast – fast enough to take on professional eSports scene and in the recent ESL finals between SK Gaming and Cloud9 player Autimatic used a G403 and after his team won he got also got given the MVP award as well 🙂

We’ve been using both the G403 and G900 since launch earlier this year and happily recommend them, the G403 has a price that’s pretty hard to resist but if you go with the larger G900 you’ll get more buttons and also that slick ambidextrous design making it perfect for lefties.

Logitech have created a lightweight, ergonomically designed body with rubber grips on the left and right sides to give you added control while the body molds to your hand for long-lasting comfort during gameplay 🙂

The Prodigy G403 brings together supreme comfort, quality, and durability in a wireless mouse that’s built for speed, accuracy and endurance. With a 1ms report rate, G403 is up to 8x faster than standard mice, when the mouse is moved or clicked, the response is near-instantaneous allowing us to be more accurate than ever been before. The G403 Prodigy features the world’s most advanced gaming mouse sensor, used by eSports pros worldwide and it is exceptionally precise and consistent so you can respond quicker and enjoy more accurate targeting. With a lightweight construction and included 10g removable weight, you have options when it comes to tuning the mouse to your preferences.  Advanced buttons use metal springs to help keep the left and right mouse buttons primed to click, reducing the force needed to click and delivering exceptional click feel, response, and consistency.

Battery life wise the mouse holds its charge well and we were able to game with no interruptions for a full night, should the gaming session last so long that you do need to charge simple connect the cable to front of the mouse and continue gaming on 🙂 This charging cable can also be used as a USB wireless dongle extension thanks to a handy adaptor included in the box.

GGPC G403 Progidy Gaming Mouse

Logitech G403 Prodigy Gaming Mouse can be fully configured using Logitech Gaming Software to quickly match to your preferences. As with other recent gear from Logitech G you can use this software to choose from a palette of up to 16.8 million colours and brightness levels(both the logo and a laser strip on the mouse wheel) to match your favorite team, personal style, system or environment. Advanced users can configure the 6 programmable buttons to simplify in-game actions via the Logitech Gaming Software and quickly execute complex tasks, you can then save your settings to the memory on the mouse and use your settings on any PC without needing additional software or requiring a log in to use them. With onboard memory, you can take your settings with you wherever you go. On-the-fly DPI shifting that lets you program and switch between up to 5 sensitivity settings, from pixel-precise targeting (200 DPI) for sniping, to lightning-fast maneuvers (up to 12000 DPI) for fast and accurate 180-degree turns.

It’s not often we see a mouse this good, and after a long weekend gaming with it we happily give this mouse our GGPC Recommends Award – The Logitech G403 Prodigy Wireless Gaming Mouse is GOOD!

Good Gaming Mouse – SteelSeries Rival 700

TheRival700

The Rival 700 gaming mouse features the first fully customisable OLED display, and also tactile alerts giving real-time information and in-game notifications that you can feel rather than see.  With this mouse no two alerts need to be the same, you can choose which in-game events automatically trigger a tactile alert and you have complete control over how each one feels – health, ammo, mana, disables, headshots, and stuns can all be individually set to start a Tactile Alert.  Tweak the vibration patterns, duration, triggers to suit you, you might want an alert that feels like a heartbeat when you are low on HP or set an alert to do a quick buzz to let know you’ve got that last hit.

The Tactile Alerts have been carefully placed in the center of your mouse, so you feel the pulse strongly in your palm. By directing the pulse to only move up through your hand, as opposed to left and right, Tactile Alerts will not impact your mouse’s tracking so you can keep your aim perfect.

In order to control all the settings for this beast you’ll need to download the SteelSeries Engine 3 software, once installed you can setup CPI, polling, lift off distance, macros, and OLED screen with just a few clicks – if you’re looking for some GIFs to get you going SteelSeries have a bunch ready for you to check out here 🙂

We’ve put this great new mouse through some extensive GGPC in game testing and it’s very comfortable indeed, this could well be one of the best mice we see in 2016! On that note we happily give this new gaming mouse our GGPC recommends award – The SteelSeries Rival 700 is GOOD!

Good Gaming Mouse – The Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum

LogitechG900Banner

Logitech has been working on a new wireless gaming mouse design and their efforts come to life with the latest G900 Chaos Spectrum – they might have just built a mouse that outperforms all other gaming mice, including wired ones 🙂

This lightweight semi modular masterpiece is well suited for both lefties and right handers with the side buttons being removable and you can even opt to have no side buttons with the included plates. The G900 has 5-11 buttons available to you, including a left and right click on the scroll wheel.

Unplug the data and charging cable to seamlessly switch between wired and wireless modes without interrupting your game.  It’s got staying power –  the wireless battery life of older G700 was a admirable 8-10 hours, the G602 had its rather insane 200+ hours battery life but the trade off was weight added by two AA batteries (or one, the mouse can be used just a single battery) and while the G900 doesn’t quite hit those numbers you can still game without recharge for around 24 hours with all the lighting on, and upto 32 hours with the lights off.  The mouse automatically goes to sleep when not in use and wakes up quickly when you want to use it again.

The Chaos Spectrum is equipped with the PMW3366 optical sensor which is widely regarded as the best gaming mouse sensor on the market.  With features like zero smoothing, filtering or acceleration across the entire DPI range (200-12,000DPI) this component delivers incredible tracking and accuracy with consistent responsiveness even at maximum speed.

LED is the now more commonplace 16.8 million configurable along with your macros via the Logitech Gaming Software, it features two lighting zones that can be tweaked independently or colour synced to match your setup.  Don’t forget to grab the ARX control app as well, if you’re reading this on your smartphone here are the links for Android and iOS 🙂

Good Gaming Mouse – The Razer Deathadder Chroma

DeathChomaBLOG

UPDATE: New version is called ELITE, check out the latest in RAZER Gaming Gear here!

Perfectly designed to fit your right palm, the ergonomic shape of the Razer DeathAdder Chroma provides an impressively comfortable gaming experience.  With its rubber side grips, slightly indented left and right mouse buttons + 2 more easily accessed via your thumb and accurate scroll wheel this mouse design works a treat every time you play.

The popular Deathadder shape hasn’t changed much since the first blue version in 2006 but this latest Chroma version will also allow you to customise the LED lighting to match your setup perfectly and though this likely won’t effect your game to much you can even set it to run effects like breathing and cycling plus there is potential for developers at add effects that relay what’s going on in game which is pretty cool – red/blue when being chased by the cops in GTA 5 would be sweet.
