Good Gaming Headset – Logitech G233 Prodigy

That awesome design team at Logitech G have just made a headset that ticks all the boxes for a gamer on the go, the G233 is a new gaming headset with removable boom microphone and interchangeable in-line controls that are perfect for PC Gaming, and also a sweet set of headphones if you’re playing Sea of Thieves on your XBOX console, PUBG on mobile or just about anything else you want to do – a seriously good spread of connection options are included. The G233 Gaming Headphones are intended to be taken everywhere, so you can play anywhere, and with this is mind the G233 headset has an understandably durable design, with a sports mesh that’s removable and washable – best of all though they lightweight and extremely comfortable making them ideal for just about anything.

The removable boom microphone is one of the best features on this headset and features noise-cancelling with a micro-pop filter to help ensure clarity when on comms, you can actually have this connected along with the in-line mobile cable and enjoy some pretty clear vocals if you’re using the discord app on your phone. The audio drivers in the G233 are optimised for both analogue and digital sound reproduction so it doesn’t really matter what you connect them to, games, music, movies – they all sound great!

These fine headphones aren’t the only new thing Logitech G have on the table right now, so if you’re on the hunt for 7.1 surround sound when gaming on your PC be sure to check out the new G433 in black and blue!

Good Gaming Speakers – Logitech G560 LIGHTSYNC Speakers

The new Logitech G560 LIGHTSYNC RGB Speakers deliver amazing audio for PC games and thanks to in-game integration that can actually give a visual representation of what’s happening in a range of games that support these smart new features.

Brightness adjustments and further customisation is all accessible via the Logitech Gaming Software, with a large selection of animation effects to choose from and the standard 16.8 million colour wheel 😛 All this is able to be tweaked to suit your own personal preferences over the four lighting zones and then saved to profiles so you can hot swap with ease later on.

The two rear lighting zones on the speakers are intended to deliver rear ambient projection to further enhance your environment and the front-facing lights are more for active and informational lighting.

Right now the compatible games list includes Tom Clancy’s the Division, GTA V, Battlefield 1 and 18 other titles. The way in which each interact with the speakers is quite unique and you can check out a couple in action within this G560 review video.  The satellite speaker also serves as a bit of an audio controller hub as well, with access to the volume controls, a Logitech programmable G-key, and also a handy 3.5mm headphone jack. Bluetooth pairing is done the usual way with the touch of a button, but these speakers can pair to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously which is a nice touch.

We can’t wait to see what brilliant ways people come up with to use these new lighting options, with the SDK available to all it’s just going to take a few talented devs to jump in and it’s game on.

Good Gaming Keyboard – Logitech G613 Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard!

As if the recent PowerPlay Lightspeed gaming gear they just released wasn’t enough, those top chaps at Logitech G have an awesome new gaming keyboard joining the mix – the Logitech G613 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard!

The G613 is a next generation wireless keyboard perfect for living room gamers who are looking for the satisfying click of mechanical switches and the freedom of wireless 🙂 Logitech have used their new LIGHTSPEED wireless technology as well and this delivers a mind-blowing 1 ms report rate for super-fast and responsive gaming, this is the same professional-grade wireless solution that’s built into the exceptional G703 and G903 wireless gaming mice.

They’ve made it savvy for the lounge by fitting a solid wrist rest onto the front, it’s also a little bit longer than the G413 with the additional G-Keys lined up on the left for gamers.

Being a living room savvy device Logitech have also taken care of a few additional features to make this keyboard even better – along the top you’ll find a host of quick media control buttons, these will allow you to quickly adjust volume, fast-forward, rewind and all that good stuff, what’s even cooler though is that Logitech have included Bluetooth connectivity as well as wireless, and with a quick-change button up beside the media controls you can hot swap between devices with ease!  Included with the keyboard is also a nice smartphone stand as well, similar to the one included with the G910 Orion Spectrum but this time in black.

Romer-G mechanical switches deliver precise mechanical performance with that signature ultra fast actuation we love, for those newbies coming to this new switch from something like a cherry blue, what makes the Romer-G switches so good is that your key-presses register at just 1.5 mm depth, around 25% faster than normal mechanical switches providing great response times in game – once you’re used to it 😛 Unlike many of the Logitech G mechanical keyboards we’ve been seeing recently, the G613 has got six dedicated macro G-keys so installing the Logitech Gaming Software is still a must even without the RGB options – it is a little odd to have keyboard without LED lighting now, but on the other hand we do understand, sacrifices must be made for battery life – there is a button that will light up though, the battery life warning indicator turns on when you’re down to 10% apparently 🙂

Logitech boasts that we’ll get 18 months of battery life on the two AA-batteries included with the kit – we’ll update our GGPC PC Gaming Blog with the latest as we test this new gaming keyboard out!

Good Gaming Gear – Logitech G PowerPlay Wireless Mouse Charging Mouse Pad!

UPDATE: PowerPlay is available in NZ now!

Wireless Gaming Mice are good, the only real worry we have is that the charge might run out right at that critical moment when gaming, denying us our glorious Pentakill – which is why GGPC use wired mice in competitive play.

Over the years talented techs have researched and released a bunch of different methods and technologies to improve battery life of our wireless devices, offering up solutions like charging cables rather than docks so you can charge as you use it – but that’s not really the point of wireless now is it 😛 The perfect solution would be never having to plug in at all, and with induction chargers for Smartphones being a common thing now it’s plausible to have your mouse pad charge your mouse – right? The biggest issues apparently are around the requirement for very precise placement, and being unable to deliver charge while the device is moving.

or should we say “were“…

Those incredible engineers at Logitech G have figured it all out, they’ve got something totally new –  and they’re calling it POWERPLAY.

POWERPLAY creates an electromagnetic energy field over a large surface area – so you don’t have to rest your gaming mouse on a tiny charging target. This field is captured and transformed into charging current by the included POWERCORE module, which attaches magnetically to the underside of a compatible gaming mouse in place of the existing weight door. It’s designed to keep charging even through high-speed flick shots or lifting and repositioning, and its base is only 2mm thick – so it’s comfortable to use as a gaming surface, the induction charging works right through both the soft and hard mouse pads as well so whatever surface you want to use it’s going to be savvy 🙂

Logitech has made the setup process super easy, clipping in the POWERCORE battery bit into your mouse is done magnetically and this aligns to the charging points on the battery for you, you can press down on a little circle for quick release and hot-swap between the weightless POWERCORE included with POWERPLAY and the 10G weighted version that comes with the G703.

Currently, the technology is set to work with two of our favourite Logitech G Wireless Gaming Mice – namely the G900, and absolutely epic G403. Both are getting an update as well with the new POWERPLAY ready versions being named the new G903 and G703, in addition to that sweeeeet POWERPLAY compatibility, both of them feature upgraded microswitches rated to 50 million clicks (vs 20 million in the previous version).

Logitech G POWERPLAY is an amazing solution jamm packed with the latest technologies, but the best bit is how simple it is to set up and use, and how easily you’ll forget about the dark times…. when you used to have to charge your mouse 🙂

Good Gaming Keyboard – The Logitech G Pro TKL RGB!

The Logitech G Pro TKL RGB is the first to carry the name Pro, a keyboard is designed and built to the exacting standards of some of the world’s top eSports athletes – we’ve used it’s spiritual precursor, the G310 in many gaming tournaments and found it to be excellent!

Featuring Logitech’s own exclusive Romer-G mechanical switches – purpose-built for pro-grade performance, responsiveness and durability these have a very short actuation point at just 1.5mm making them around 25% faster than a standard mechanical switch. A perfect blend of speed, precision and quiet performance, the Romer-G is the stealth assassin of mechanical gaming keyboard switches 🙂

The compact tenkeyless design which frees up tournament table space for low-sens mouse movement, and a detachable cable for easy transportation to the next tournament. Durability is built into every component and reinforced by a super-strong steel backplate that adds stability and rigidity to gameplay.

To improve performance even further, Logitech focused on KSP (Keystroke Signal Processing) which is the sequence of events that translates a switch actuation into a USB signal. To make the Logitech G Pro Gaming Keyboard ultra responsive, they’ve optimised the KSP to be up to 10ms faster response than the competition. Speed isn’t just in the key switch, it’s the entire system starting with the switch actuation, KSP, and then report rate.

Using Logitech Gaming Software you can customise every key manually but there is also a massive range of lighting profiles available for over 300 different games. We highly recommend you enable ‘Automatic Game Detection’ in the Logitech Gaming Software to have them automatically display on the Pro Keyboard when the game launches – when Mass Effect Andromeda launched we were surprised with a very cool custom A logo on our keyboards during loading which was pretty crazy cool and once you get in-game it just gets cooler by lighting up all the keys you’ll need in your gaming session 🙂

Combine all this with smart little touches like a removable USB connection, killer macro management and those oh-so-perfect height adjusting rubber tipped feet and you’ve got the Logitech G Pro TKL RGB Gaming Keyboard!

Good Gaming Controller – Logitech G Pro X56 RHINO H.O.T.A.S Joystick and Dual Throttle

Perfect for both space games like Star Citizen and gigantic robot sims like Mechwarrior Online the new RHINO X56 flight controller from Logitech G provides budding pilots and space-aces with the many inputs required to achieve true control of our flying vehicles or mechs. Going wayyy beyond the usual pitch, roll, yaw, backwards, forwards, up, down, left and right this X56 Pro Flight System allow you to control things like gimballed weapons and omni directional thrusters so you can nimbly jet yourself into the perfect position in heat of battle!

Using a twin-engine throttle controller is the only suitable method for manipulating a virtual twin-engine aircraft. The X-56 Rhino boasts twin throttles – allowing for some pretty crazy maneuvers – and also provides the option to adjust the friction required to move them. If your aircraft of choice is single-engine, a handy throttle lock effectively converts the twin throttles into a single unit.

Through the included software package you’ve got the ability to completely customise all of the X-56 Rhino’s axes and buttons. On the axis side, you can adjust deadbands and response curves to fine-tune axes to respond just like an aircraft’s real-life counterparts. On the buttons and toggle side, you can assign any number of in-sim commands, such as afterburner, Frame Shift Drive, target lock and weapon group firing. The software also allows programmability for an array of mouse and keyboard commands – from basic single-key inputs to very advanced, timed, and macro commands.

Piloting while using VR is a great experience but can prove difficult because you can’t see your own hands, which can make finding the controls you need problematic. The X-56 places controls perfectly under your fingers where subtle distinctions in button feel and shape help you navigate the control set with ease. Even the switches on the base of the throttle are staggered or separated so telling them apart from feel alone is possible, leaving you free to concentrate on the immersive VR experience 🙂

During virtual flight – just like true flight – the accuracy of an aircraft’s control surfaces is of paramount importance. The X-56 Rhino’s control surfaces are incredibly accurate, courtesy of a 16-bit aileron and elevator axis, developed from the ground up, this 16-bit axis solution enables extremely precise movement!

This new X56 Controller is just a slice from a range of new gear that’s just landed in New Zealand, check out the latest in the Logitech Game Controller Store today!

Good Gaming Keyboard – G413 Mechanical in Silver and Carbon!

UPDATE: Hands on the with new Silver G413 – it’s beautiful!

Hot on the heels of the excellent TKL Gaming Keyboard just released (Ten Key Less, it basically means no numpad :P), those fine folks at Logitech G have just released another TWO new metal keyboard options for us!

Full sized but lightweight with high strength aluminum alloy top casing for added rigidity along with a slim, blade-like form factor thanks to the way the keys raise off the board – they’ve done something brilliant here within the keycaps and the LED lighting on these doesn’t suffer from the light leakage issues you may have experienced in the past with other slim metal board designs, the package even includes extra gaming keycaps that are interchangeable with the ones in the keyboard as well as a keycap puller to get those keys out when you feel like it.

One of the best bit’s about these new G413 is they both feature a USB passthrough so you can charge your smartphone from the keyboard, an excellent feature that should be on every gaming keyboard! They’ve also added a nice cable route pathway on the bottom of the keyboard too ensure everything stays super tidy 🙂

The media, brightness and volume controls are now integrated as secondary functions accessed via the F keys. and you can also setup your favourite programmable macros for games via the Logitech Gaming Software suite. Two distinct versions are available, the first is Carbon Black with a red LED backlight and the second is a super cool looking Silver G413 version with white LED.

Good Gaming Headset – Logitech G533 Available NOW!

G533

UPDATE: The G533 Gaming Headset has landed in NZ!

There are a few really nice gaming gaming headsets available in NZ today and a new piece of audio goodness has just released from those fine folks at Logitech G!

The G533 is a sleek new gaming headset that’s using the same Pro-G audio drivers found in the exceptional 933 Artemis Spectrum, it’s also packing DTS X 7.1 surround sound which accurately replicates 7.1 speaker position so we can enjoy all the ambient sounds and audio ques that make playing games with a nice headset oh so enthralling 🙂 It’s also handy for a multiplayer gamer as being able to hear which direction gunfire is coming from can be a pretty neat tool for getting into the action (or getting out the way :P) You can configure all this and more with the Logitech Gaming Software.

GGPC Logitech G533 Gaming Headset Buttons up closeThe headset packs in all the goodness we’ve come to expect from Logitech G with earpieces that can also be removed and washed if needed, these cups also pivot making for comfortable in those moment when you’ve got the headset around your neck as you run off to grab a quick Redbull between matches 🙂 You’ll still be able to hear when the next match is coming up because this one is wireless thanks to an included 2.4GHz USB dongle (which apparently gives even more range than the G933!) and will last a solid 15 hours of game time at around 50% volume, which is managed via that slick roller we liked so much in our G910 Gaming Keyboard review \o/

UPDATE: We’re well into testing this one out for ourselves now and it’s really good, a few things have really stood out to us. Firstly the unobstructed range appears to be well over 15 metres, with the USB dongle in our GGPC editor rig we still had a perfect connection all the way down in the other end of the workshop and that’s a good 30 metres away! When testing in a two story house we were able to head downstairs and into the kitchen to grab a drink and still maintain voice comms while waiting in que, great stuff Logitech 🙂 Battery wise the headset has just crossed the 16 hour mark and do another quick test soon to see how long this thing last at full volume (which we don’t advise, these ear cannons are loud!).

Good Gaming Mouse – The BEST in Logitech G Wireless

GGPC Wireless Mice are AWESOME

Wireless mice have come a long way and right now Logitech G have the two best options for gamers with the very affordable Logitech G403 Prodigy and premium Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum available 🙂

To be perfectly clear, wireless mice were not always this good – and getting them to this point sure took a while…  finally the latest wireless ones are as fast as their wired friends, and also have very nice lightweight feel to them \o/

The battery life for both is also really excellent, spanning over several days of heavy gaming without the need to charge but for a wireless mouse to beat out the wired competition it must be able to be charged conveniently as well, even in the middle of a game. For this there are no fancy external docks needed instead a USB cable connects to the front of the mouse turning it into a wired mouse while it charges – so no problem at all 🙂 Logitech Gaming Software can be used to customise the RGB LED lighting on both to further increase the time between charges, though we’d kinda miss having everything glowing away in perfect sync.

Speed wise they really are fast – fast enough to take on professional eSports scene and in the recent ESL finals between SK Gaming and Cloud9 player Autimatic used a G403 and after his team won he got also got given the MVP award as well 🙂

We’ve been using both the G403 and G900 since launch earlier this year and happily recommend them, the G403 has a price that’s pretty hard to resist but if you go with the larger G900 you’ll get more buttons and also that slick ambidextrous design making it perfect for lefties.
