Attention all designers – a really cool contest is on right now with a massive prize up for grabs – and New Zealand is on the list of eligible countries for this one!
The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is the most powerful gaming graphics card you can get, it deserves a PC gaming chassis worthy of its power.
That’s where you come in!
For this one they’ve highlight four chassis for us to choose from as a base for the design, from there we must design our build (inside and out, this must be more than just a paint job!) and then post it via Twitter or Instagram, tag @NVIDIAGeForce and use #UltimateGeForcePC.
The chassis we have to choose from are…
Cooler Master MasterCase 5
In Win 909
There are four judges who will be scrutinizing the designs, Jason (JayzTwoCents), Lee Harrington (PCJunkieMods), Peter Brands and Wei Zheng so make sure you put everything you’ve got into this one – these chaps are crazy good!
What are you waiting for? Make your own Ultimate Gaming PC design for the chance to win a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and up to $10K (USD) in cash!
Gigabyte have continued to update their excellent line up of GTX 10 series gaming laptops and now the first of the Kaby Lake refresh has arrived in New Zealand – among which is the absolutely stunning Aero series which is now packing the mighty i7-7700HQ and a 6GB GTX 1060!
What makes this series so darn impressive is the laptop sports a gorgeous 2560×1440 resolution IPS screen packed into a very portable 14″ package, it’s simply a joy to look at 🙂
Weighing in at around 2KG this is one of the few laptops available now that’s perfect for work (it’s so fast!) and also great for gaming after hours. It’s super thin too, coming in just under 2cm slim and yet those talented chaps at Gigabyte still managed to fit very comfortable auto-adjusting backlit keyboard… and individual macro keys!
Aside from the very latest in hardware inside you’ll also find it has all the connections we look for like USB Type-C and HDMI 2.0 for connecting to a 4K 60FPS screen should you decide that you want to play a little League of Legends on the TV when you get home 😛
UPDATE: We were blown away when we first tested the GTX 1060 in laptops and with this new, more portable option things are certainly looking even better now for the gamer on go 🙂 Even with the new slimmer frame this GTX 1060 Kaby Lake combo still pushes out the frames like a big gaming PC and with that beautiful 2560×1440 screen games are a joy to play! Even in the most intense firefights, the Gigabyte Aero manages to keep thing nice and smooth as we try to capture the flag in Overwatch below \o/
The hardest part will be deciding which free game to choose! Let’s take a look at what’s on offer 🙂
First up – Maize
A first-person adventure game about what happens when two scientists misinterpret a memo from the U.S. Government and create sentient corn. And that last sentence is pretty much the least ridiculous thing about the game 😛
Next on the list – Raw Data
A made-for-VR high-octane combat experience combining elements of shooters with tower defense. Active VR gameplay involves your whole body as you put your wits, boldness and endurance to the test. Intuitive controls completely immerse you within the game world, from engaging with objects to pulling weapons off your body to strategically choosing your loadout. And all the while, you’ll be slashing, shooting, deflecting, ducking and dodging as you fend off waves of androids set to “kill.”
And the final choice – Redout
Redout is a tribute to the old racing monsters such as F-Zero, WipeOut, Rollcage, and POD. It is designed to be an uncompromising, fast, tough and satisfying driving experience, soaked in that vertigo that stands at the core of the arcade racing genre. The floating system and driving models are based on physics: each turn, slope, hard braking, acceleration, each turn and twist of the track will apply a unique force to the ship. A sharp low-polygon style blends meshes and terrains with the latest state-of-the-art shading and lighting effects provided by the Unreal Engine 4, creating beautiful and instantly recognisable aesthetics. Breezy coastlines, eerie frozen landscapes, vast desert plains: the melancholic, dystopian atmosphere of a semi abandoned Earth is the background for the most high-speed, tense and beautiful futuristic racing clashes.
Tough choices for sure but getting your game bonus is easy 🙂 Once you’ve got your awesome new hardware visit the Gigabyte Redemption Site or EVGA Redemption Site to register for your game code, you’ll then receive a special code by email and once you’ve got that visit the Nvidia Game Code website and enter it in 🙂
Gear up with a new GTX 1070, GTX 1080 or grab a Gaming PC or Gaming Laptop featuring one of these and you can register that powerful new graphics card to get a game code for Watch Dogs 2 \o/

Nvidia are making a push to have more NZ and Australian gamers join their forums (and like their facebook and twitters pages) so they’ve setup a little challenge with a GTX 1050ti, GTX 1060 and GTX 1070 up for grabs as prizes!
What makes this one so appealing for us here in New Zealand is the pictured founders edition GTX 1070, 1060 and 1050 – graphics cards that never actually found their way onto NZ shelves! While it’s still not certain these are the cards that are up for grabs it’s enough motivation to enter right 😛
The challenge is a pretty simple one – follow the 6 steps below and you could WIN…
UPDATE: The GTX 1050 and GTX 1050ti are available in NZ now – check out the latest GTX 1050 Gaming PC performance here plus more gameplay below!
It’s a great day for the everyday PC gamer with the announcement of the latest GTX 1050 graphics cards! Built for playing eSports hits like Overwatch and League of Legends these new graphics cards are sure to make there way into many many gaming rigs around the world by offering excellent performance at a great price.
Both the GTX 1050 and GTX 1050ti versions have been announced and both are looking pretty darn good, memory ranges from 2GB to 4GB and the new lineup is solid with different versions to suit varied budgets and gaming PC builds 🙂
Starting things off with the great value Gigabyte GTX 1050 Windforce 2GB Graphics card we have a cooling system that features two 90mm unique blade fans with an alternate spinning fan design and 2 pure copper composite direct touch heat pipes all working together to deliver an effective heat dissipation capacity for higher performance at lower temperatures. This new GPU is sporting a single DVI, 3x HDMI outputs and a DisplayPort so connecting to your favourite screen(s) will be a breeze, the maximum resolution is a massive 7680×4320 so it’s a really good option for productivity setups as well.
The card performs slightly above the GTX 950 (which was an excellent graphics card, we used a lot in our legacy GGPC Hero build) Below is a quick test playing some minecraft with Sildurs Vibrant Shaders active with the new GTX 1050 🙂
The new GTX 1050 also gave us some pretty excellent performance even with the new Titanfall 2, below we are using the adaptive framerate target mode in game to keep above 60FPS.
Is the card VR ready? Well, it’s an interesting question! The GPU sits just under “recommended” in the Steam VR performance test. We’ll have to test this one out with a range of titles and see how it actually goes in game. (more on this soon)
A single 6-pin power input will be needed to fit these and it’s pretty nice to see all versions fitted with a solid back plate, looking closer at the GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming Graphics Card the beautiful orange highlights now extend around the sides and even onto the backplate which looks awesome, both the G1 Gaming and Xtreme Gaming versions also sport RGB lighting 🙂
A new saga begins for one of the most acclaimed video game franchises in history, GEARS OF WAR 4! After narrowly escaping an attack on their village, JD Fenix and his friends, Kait and Del, must rescue the ones they love and discover the source of a monstrous new enemy. Set 25 years after the Imulsion Countermeasure weapon destroyed all Imulsion and took with it the use of fossil fuels, forcing humanity to adapt new ways for survival – but hey, at least it took out the Locust and the Lambent as well right 😛 Following the aftermath of the Lambent Epidemic, the reformed Coalition of Ordered Governments estimated that only hundreds of thousands of humans are left on Sera. To prevent the population from declining, walled-off cities were built to protect the citizens from the dangers outside but tensions rise with a new faction known as the “Outsiders” who choose to live outside of the COG jurisdiction…
Getting you game code is easy, once you’ve got your awesome new hardware visit the registration page for Gigabyte, EVGA or Asus (depending on your chosen flavour 😛) and click the REDEEM button at the bottom of the pages, follow the steps along to register your new graphics card – once completed you’ll receive an Nvidia code via email and when you’ve got that simply visit the Nvidia redemption page and enter it in!
The promotion runs from today until October 30th, the game is a part of Xbox Play Anywhere so you’ll get a copy of the PC version and Xbox One also which is nice and also a bit clever as Gears of War 4 supports Cross Play across Xbox One and Windows 10 in all of the game’s modes – fun times ahead indeed!
Those fine folks @ Nvidia have uploaded some tasty 4K gameplay to tide us over until we get to try this one out for ourselves 😛
We’ve had some epic battles in Titanfall 2 with the 3GB Gigabyte GTX 1060 sticking pretty darn close to 60FPS even when jumping on the back of an enemy titan to pop a grenade 🙂 This game plays best on the 6GB version letting you push those textures all the up.
With Battlefield 1 you can go ultra all the way for most maps, in the big city map when all the smokey rubble, flame throwers and gas grenades start going it can get a little dicey but you can still keep above 60 by tweaking post processing and mesh to high 🙂
Moving away from first person shooters now we jump into a bit of Black Desert Online and with this one the 6GB Asus Strix GTX 1060 really shines, BDO is framelocked to 60 but achieving this isn’t easy – nicely done nVidia!
The GTX 1060 isn’t invincible though, we threw the Witcher 3 at it with some very high settings and while it’s still playable, it pushes the 1060 to its limits.
Tweaking the settings a little makes for smooth gaming though, as you can see with the GTX 1060 Laptop below 🙂
Lots more games to play and more tests coming, keep your eyes on the GGPC YouTube Channel for the latest!
