Good Gaming Headset – Kingston CLOUD Revolver

Following in the footsteps of its little brother, the very reasonably priced Kingston CLOUD Stinger we just played with a week or so ago this new addition to the HyperX Gaming Headset range really turns things up!

Introducing the exceptional Kingston HyperX CLOUD Revolver – a solid headset that, much like it’s siblings, is compatible with PC, XBOX ONE and PS4 gaming systems.

Audio is crisp, mic is great and build quality is tops 🙂 This headset was designed in Germany and boasts a durable steel frame for long-lasting stability. The MIC is detachable this time around and sports noise-cancellation for clearer voice comms with less background noise – perfect for gaming in the lounge 😛 This ones actually certified by TeamSpeak but you’ll have no issues using Discord, Skype etc.

The real magic of this headset comes via the audio freq range, the Revolver has a whopping range of 12Hz–28,000Hz (the Stingers range is an admirable 18Hz-23,000Hz) which allows you to hear your opponents movements more accurately, even when they’re further away – this is crazy cool in a game like Overwatch in which each character has their own unique footstep sounds and once you get into things you can not only tell where the enemy players are, but which specific hero is about to come around the corner…

There is also another version available with a similar name called the CLOUD Revolver S – that other version has a USB soundcard which enables 7.1 surround sound which is cool but could also be a little confusing so be sure double check which version your grabbing 😛

PREPARE FOR BATTLE – For Honor + Ghost Recon Wildlands YOU CHOOSE GTX BONUS!

GGPC Wildlands For Honor Nvidia GTX 1060 1070 1080 ti Free Game You Choose Bonus

UPDATE: This promotion has now ended, you have until the 30th Jun to redeem your codes.

Play a battle-hardened warrior in For Honor or go behind enemy lines to take down the cartel in Ghost Recon: Wildlands. For a limited time, claim your choice of these Ubisoft games as a bonus when you gear up with selected GTX 1070, GTX 1080, GTX 1080Ti graphics cards or Gaming PCs and Gaming Laptops featuring these beasts!

As usual the hardest part is going to be deciding which game to choose, so let’s take a closer look at both options.

First up – Ghost Recon: Wildlands!

Bolivia, a few years from now. The country has become the largest cocaine producer in the world. The Santa Blanca drug cartel has turned the country into a narco-state, leading to lawlessness, injustice, and violence. The Ghosts, an elite US Special Forces team, is sent behind enemy lines to wreak havoc and takedown the cartel.

This one enjoyed the largest turnout during the Ubisoft open beta phase and is best played with a group of friends, if you find yourself in solo queue being a helicopter pilot or driver for a bunch of randoms is still pretty darn fun as well!

Next up – For Honor!

This new hack’n’slash capture’n’hold game proved itself early on with some very beautiful graphics and a slick melee battle system that had us ramming our way through the ranks to take on opposing warriors in fierce hand to hand (or blade to blade) combat.

Many, many hours have been spent in For Honor at GGPC NZ, the matches often become fantastically close battles with the skill based player matching systems working very well indeed – this one is truly exceptional if you play often, you’ll start to recognise opponents from previous encounters in game and the focus shifts from an all out battle to hunting each other down relentlessly with some face-offs lasting the entire round.

This is a register to redeem promotion, once you’ve got your awesome new hardware simply visit the registration sites as below depending on your chosen flavour, enter the details as prompted and you’ll get a game code via email 🙂

Good Custom PC – CM CASEMOD 2017 ANZ

GGPC Cooler Master CaseMod 2017 ANZ Series

Case Mod World Series 2017 ANZ Edition has been Announced!

Earlier in February, Cooler Master announced the Case Mod World Series 2017. This global case modding competition invites anyone from first-time tinkerers to seasoned veterans to make and submit their creations from Feb 3rd to May 3rd.

Today Cooler Master announced the Case Mod World Series 2017 ‘ANZ Edition’. All Case Mod World Series 2017 entries from Australia and New Zealand will be automatically entered in to the ‘ANZ Edition’ competition. You can check out the awesome prizes up for grabs here.

“We are having again, this year, an ANZ Edition to recognize and promote modders within our community. Three Winners from the ANZ region will be selected after the Case Mod World Series 2017 concludes. We hope to ignite the maker spirit right in our own backyard,” said Vance Chang, Cooler Master Marketing Manager, ANZ.

Want to get involved?

First step is to register, you can sign up for the Cooler Master CASEMOD 2017 here.

Once that’s done you’ll want to create a build log entry, this is split into two parts depending on if you want to enter a scatch build or a tower mod. A scratch build is basically a computer where you don’t use a chassis as the base for the build, it can include parts of a case though in most instances these aren’t really recogniseable 🙂 A tower mod is when you build a PC but alter the appearance of the case into something unique.

Last year we built a PC that was a desktop garden inside a terrarium with an open waterfall for the watercooling on the CPU and had a such a good time, you can check out the GG Terrarium build on PC Part Picker for more information on that one – keep an eye on our GGPC Instagram to follow our latest build along, we’ll also update with a PC Part Picker for GG Tsunado once it’s complete.

Good Gaming Headset – Kingston CLOUD Stinger

Such a great day and such a good Gaming Headset!

The new HyperX CLOUD Stinger Gaming Headset from Kingston is an ideal choice for gamers who use multiple gaming machines, hopping from PC to Consoles and vice versa. Compatible with the big three (PC, XBOX ONE and PS4) so if you’re on the hunt for a comfortable headset and convenience this could be the one 🙂

Weighting in at just 275 grams, this light option is pretty darn comfy on the head – the ear cups rotate in a 90-degree angle for a better fit while the 50mm directional drivers inside position sound directly into the ear for gaming-grade sound quality. Even during prolonged gaming sessions, this one is really good and the headband itself features a high-quality memory foam that doesn’t get too hot, custom adjustments are handled via a durable slider.

Microphone wise it’s solid but has that neat feature we like – if you put it up it automatically mutes 🙂 We think this is the best way to do it, much better than a mute button you’ve got to fumble around to find 😛

We’ve had a great time with the CLOUD Stinger – this headset is pretty GOOD!

GOOD GAMING PC – CORSAIR RGB RAM WITH GIGABYTE AORUS FUSION!

GGPC RGB RAM Corsair Vengence and Gigabyte Aorus Fusion

If you’re lucky enough to be packing a Gigabyte Aorus Motherboard in your Gaming PC there’s a really cool update that will let you tweak Corsairs new RGB Vengeance RAM kits within the existing Gigabyte FUSION app we already use to customise our zone lighting. These new kits light up in one entire colour at a time rather than having individual zones, so we’re limited to showing a single colour per stick but we could still have four fitted each with their own colours, the Corsair RGB currently does four standard light effects — static, rainbow, breathing and colour shift.

Right now those with GIGABYTE Fusion enabled motherboards will be able to control their Corsair Vengeance RGB RAM as well, you can still control things via Corsair Link software but having one software package to control everything is the goal, just like we did with the MasterCase Pro 6 PC Part Picker build so we can’t wait to try this out with Fusion here at GGPC 😛

GGPC PCPartPicker Trident Z RGB Ram Build

The FUSION desktop app itself is really easy to use, but what makes this one sooo appealing for us is it actually has a smartphone companion app as well and with it you can customise things from your android smartphone – you can download the Gigabyte RGB Fusion Smartphone App on Google Play \o/ It’s important to note that this app will likely need an update to add the new ram functionality and there is sometimes a little tinkering you must do around permissions in order to pair your system with the app, thankfully Jon Colón left a review on the app which explains it with details “UPDATE: In order for this program to work, open windows firewall with advanced security. Under inbound rules click “New Rule” – Click port then next. You need to add TCP 9009, UDP 1980 and UDP 19801″

GGPC Gigbyate Aorus RGB Fusion App

Fun times ahead for sure – if you just can’t wait to start playing around with this awesome new tech below are links to some of our favourite FUSION ready motherboards and also the G.Skill RGB kits which are available in New Zealand right now!

Good Gaming PC Case – CM MasterBox 5 Dark Mirror

We’ve been treated to so many good chassis lately and today we’re looking specifically at a very reasonably priced computer case from those fine folks at Cooler Master – white MasterBox 5 with a dark mirror front panel 🙂

Starting things off, this isn’t the first in the MasterBox 5 series and there are also options if you wanted to grab this one in black, or with mesh instead of tinting on the front – that’s really what Cooler Master has been all about lately as well, options!

This chassis provides a really good base to start just about any kind of build in, an included power supply shield will help keep things super tidy inside. There are mounting holes all over the place which allow for multiple positions when fitting storage devices, the movable hot swap HDD caddy has a clip hinge with the CM logo on each drive bay as well. This case is ready for various sizes of motherboard, from the tiny ITX though to large ATX like we’ve used below in our little AMD test system.

The chassis does include 2x black CM 120mm fans which are mounted in the front, with these fitted the mirror effect for the front panel is pretty good at reflecting whatever your PC is facing – this panel is actually a deep tint so if you decide to put LED fans into the position you’ll cancel out the mirror somewhat and a things will light up the front, you can check this out in our RGB MasterBox 5 build shown at the bottom of this blog 🙂 The top of the case provide quick access to dual USB 3.0 (which aren’t coloured blue, we like this) and also audio jacks with the power button having a white LED light behind it. The side window panel is massive so when it came time to add in the little extra lighting we mounted this on the front aiming backwards, that way if you’ve got the PC on your desk at eye-level you won’t have a blazing LED shining directly into your eyes 😛

GGPC MasterBox 5 Dark Mirror Custom Build

Even though the chassis is inexpensive compared to others of similar looks and quality (it’s under $150 NZD at the time of writing this) it’s so tidy looking you really can put in the highest end components and things won’t be off balance. There is space for X99 motherboards and dual graphics card builds, you can rear mount your radiator or even front mount a 240mm liquid cooling kit in a push/pull configuration and it even fits the absolutely massive air cooling units like the MasterAir Maker 8 – crazy cool!

GGPC CM MasterBox 5 Dark Mirror Multiple Custom Builds

We like this chassis so much we’ve decided to use it for our own top selling build – the GGPC Hero GTX 1050 Gaming PC \o/ With this build being a part of our latest series of custom rigs you can tweak the components and the new visual tool will show you what your system design looks like as you choose/change components. You won’t need to be a hardware guru to design a system, we only provide options which are compatible with each other. The tool works by providing a range of fully functional base builds from which you can customise your system upwards, adding additional graphics power or digital storage depending on your needs. You’ll be happily swapping out components to get the perfect look with no worries 🙂

We’re looking forward to doing more Custom Gaming PC builds with this chassis, with such flexible mounting options and killer looks it’s hard not to love this case (or the others in the series) but among the current range this white dark mirror version is certainly a favourite of ours 🙂 On that note we happily give this fine Cooler Master chassis our GGPC recommends award – the MasterBox 5 Dark Mirror Case is GOOD!

Good Gaming – Mass Effect Andromeda – FREE ITEMS

GGPC Mass Effect Andromeda Free Vehicle Skin Free Helmet and Play First Trial

Many of us are already running around in Mass Effect Andromeda now, screaming “WE COME IN PEACE!” while unloading our weapons into anything that moves 😛 For others this weekend will be filled with Sci-Fi adventures and exciting co-op matches within APEX \o/

If you’re looking for some more cosmetic options to use in game the Andromeda Initiative has a free helmet and vehicle skin you can claim by learning a bit about the Mass Effect universe, and your place within it. You can visit the Andromeda Initiative Website here, in order to unlock the helmet you’ll have to watch 6 short training videos (which are pretty cool) – unlocking the Nomad vehicle skin is as easy as signing up the for newsletter 🙂

You’ll have to reach EOS (the first planet you’ll travel too when you get to free roam) in order to use the items in game, once you’ve got your ground vehicle go to your personal quarters on the Tempest (your super cool space ship) and look for the skin next to the email terminal – you’ll find the helmet in your bedroom on the Tempest as well \o/ We’re not sure how long these will be available for so get in quick and nab them while you can!

You can also still check out the game before you buy within EA’s Origin game launcher (download button is hidden on the left) – this has a paid subscription feature called Origin Access that will allow to jump into the galaxy with a limit set at 10 hours of game time – the timer ticks only when you are in the game so don’t worry about a lengthy download chopping into this. We rushed this one to see how far into things the game trial went and hit the end around 2 hours in, so feel free to take some time and explore 🙂

You’ll find the game within your Origin Launcher under the Origin Access tab, once you click it to start the download (40GB) it’s going to be added to your regular game library so it’s easy to find! If you do decide to keep going and buy the game all your progress will carry over + you won’t have to download another client, this one simply converts to the full game \o/

We’ve jumped into this one with a range of Gaming PC to check things out for ourselves and had a blast getting into fights around the universe – keep your eyes on the GGPC YouTube for the latest!

Good Gaming Headset – Kingston Hyper X CLOUD II

We’re in for a treat! Over the next few weeks we’ll be checking out a range of new gaming headsets from the hardware manufacturer Kingston and today we’re starting things off with the expectional HyperX Cloud II \o/

This update to the now iconic original CLOUD range features a re-designed USB sound card that amplifies your audio + voice for an incredible gaming experience. It has independent audio and microphone volume control + an easily toggled virtual surround sound.

The virtual 7.1 provides a really feeling of distance and depth to enhance your gaming, you can pin-point your opponents location in the game and strike before they even see you coming 🙂 What makes this sooo cool is that it’s hardware driven – totally plug and play, with no driver needed.

The noise-cancelling gooseneck microphone provides clear voice chat and reduced background noise, it has even got a nice little cover for the mic that helps reduce those heavy breathers 😛 Another cool feature is that voice chat volume automatically increases as in-game sound gets louder, this really helps with team communication mid fight \o/ The HyperX Cloud II is certified by TeamSpeak and optimised for Skype and other leading chat programs like Discord.

Sporting some insane 53mm drivers for superior audio performance and rich sound quality with crystal-clear low, mid and high tones this USB-powered headset is intended for PC but you can apparently connect it via an included 3.5mm stereo cable to XBOX ONE and PS4 which is nice.

There are two versions of this awesome headset available now, the first is the standard Black Hyper X CLOUD II and the second is a very slick looking Gun Metal Hyper X CLOUD II which looks amazing!

GAME ON!
