UPDATE: 2nd Gen Ryzen CPU are available now!
There are two new Ryzen 5 versions with another two Ryzen 7 versions releasing.
Ryzen 5 2600 6 Core, 12 Thread @ 3.9GHz Max Boost <- Wraith Stealth Cooler
Ryzen 5 2600X 6 Core, 12 Thread @ 4.2GHz Max Boost <- Wraith Spire Cooler
Ryzen 7 2700 8 Core, 16 Thread @ 4.1GHz Max Boost <- Wraith Spire RGB Cooler
Ryzen 7 2700X 8 Core, 16 Thread @ 4.3GHZ Max Boost <- Wraith Prism RGB Cooler Included!
These new AMD Ryzen 2000 Series desktop processors still use the AM4 socket, but as with every new release our existing AMD 300 Series motherboards will likely require a BIOS update in order to use them, for those not jumping in on day one there is also a new 400 series of AM4 motherboards releasing on the 20th that will be good to go with these new CPU – and those will sport the badge below for easy identification.
These new X470 motherboards are reported to have improved power infrastructure for higher clocks on second-gen Ryzen CPUs and also feature AMD StoreMI technology, which allows for an SSD to be used as a cache for a traditional hard drive.

In addition to the new CPU we also get a very cool, new cooler. This latest one is called the Wraith Prism and it’s included with the Ryzen 2700X, many improvements have been made over the current Wraith Max with the height having been adjusted to allow for more memory clearance as well as the fan now being semi-transparent to catch more of the glorious RGB 🙂
Pretty exciting stuff! The new CPU speeds look enticing, the new coolers look… cool… you can order yourself a Pinnacle Ridge in the NZ AMD Store now and we’ve already begun building some Gaming PC with ours for release on the 20th as well!
