Good Gaming CPU – Ryzen 3600, 3600X, 3700X, 3800X and 3900X!

It’s exciting times for PC builders with the new AMD Ryzen 3000 series just about to release in New Zealand! The release date is set for 07/07/2019, but unfortunately, this is also in the US timezone, so for us here in NZ, it’s going to be early morning on the 8th July.

The first wave of 3rd gen Ryzen includes all the CPU listed below, with the new Ryzen 3 3200G and Ryzen 5 3400G scheduled to land in NZ a little later on (we’ll update as soon as we know) – it’s important to note that all the day one Ryzen 3000 CPU options do not include VEGA integrated graphics, so you need to pair these with Graphics Cards in your builds. Thanks to the Computex event release we also have USD pricing to convert into NZD, it’s great to have so much information this early on!

The key takeaway information is faster clock speeds, faster RAM supported and a larger L3 cache – many of the models look to include the top-tier Ryzen Wraith Prism RGB Cooler too, rather than the previous Wraith Spire RGB option. If you’re using a current gen AM4 A320, B450 or X470 motherboard be sure to check the BIOS updates before you install the new CPU.

Regarding cache, it’s basically a really small amount of fast memory used by the CPU, so for those who aren’t familiar here’s a quick metaphor.

You are a CPU, actively working on something with your right hand

Have something on the workbench in front of you (data in L2 cache)

Have something behind you in the cupboard (data in L3 cache)

Data which is stored in your RAM or SSD is like having it another room, so it takes a bit longer to fetch (we’re talking fractions of a second though)

Motherboard wise, we have a new X570 series releasing on the same day and this is ready to go with Ryzen 3000 right out of the box. Having one of these will also allow your build to use the latest PCIe 4.0 SSD storage options from Gigabyte and Corsair. For those want to create an all-new AMD system there are also two new Graphics Cards releasing – the AMD RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT – and these get also get an AMD REWARDS Microsoft GAMEPASS bonus, but more those soon 🙂

Benchmark wise, 3D Mark has just released a new option for those wanting to test the AMD’s third-generation Ryzen processors, the new X570 motherboards and that oh so fancy PCIe 4.0 SSD.

Stock for all these awesome new CPU, GPU, Motherboard and SSD are landing in New Zealand now ahead of the 07/08/2019 release date – so we should have all the goodness available in NZ on day one!

GAME ON!

AMD are back at it again, this time celebrating the release of the new RX 590 and VEGA VII Graphics Card with a triple game bonus via AMD Rewards! Fear not if you’re grabbing the RX 570 or RX 580 though, you’ll still be able to choose a 2x games bonus to go with your new Graphics Card or Gaming PC 🙂

Looking specifically at the games, all are soon to be released, so as I write this it’s more accurately described as a pre-order bonus – but the games are awesome!

THE DIVISION 2: The city calls on us yet again to run, gun and diveroll like crazy in a bid to save Washington D.C. which is on the brink of collapse. Lawlessness and instability threaten our society, and rumours of a coup in the Capitol are only amplifying the chaos. All active Division agents are desperately needed to save the city before it’s too late. Unlike anything before it, The Division 2’s Washington D.C. is a 1:1 representation of the real city, making the game world more authentic than ever. The game’s map offers up-close-and-personal views of landmarks, natural landscapes, neighbourhoods, and enemy hideouts.

RESIDENT EVIL 2 REMAKE: The original Resident Evil 2 was released in 1998 and since then has sold almost 5 million copies. The action game centred around rookie cop Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, as they fought to survive a mysterious viral outbreak within Raccoon City. The 1998 original was hailed as a gaming masterpiece and propelled Resident Evil into mainstream pop culture and the entertainment you know today… The horror, tension, characters and twisted narrative that made this one a survival horror masterpiece that captivated the world, returns reimagined in January 2019, with the characters, environments and story all been rebuilt from the ground up – promising us a truly terrifying world that feels both nostalgic and new!

DEVIL MAY CRY 5: Legendary DMC action returns and it’s made all the more stylish by the power modern gaming has to offer! With the Devil May Cry series boasting over 16 million sales worldwide, our latest adventure is set several years after the Order of the Sword incident with an unusual phenomenon suddenly appearing in Red Grave City. A gigantic tree pierces through the surface in the middle of town, attacking with roots that drain the poor citizens of their blood. Now Nero must bring his stylish destruction down on fiendish foes and show off his new demonic powers!

The process for registration and redeeming your games hasn’t changed much, but you’ll still need to grab your AMD Rewards Key from the retailer who is hosting the competition so let us know if you get stuck!

GAME(S) ON!

Seteki is not the only mythological menace to have awoken though, she’s brought an army of loyal beasts with her!

Explore remarkable ruins, solve perilous puzzles and uncover tantalising treasure while blasting your way through an array of undead enemies in thrilling third-person action that’s certain to bring out your inner adventurer. Hunt the foul Seteki through a rip-roaring campaign filled with dangerous dig sites, prodigious pyramids and crumbling caves packed with bountiful foes to send back to the afterlife. Decapitate the undead with spinning blades, fry them to a crisp with fire traps, crush them with a well-placed boulder and more. Keep those peepers peeled for suspicious clues, secret entrances and ancient contraptions that need re-awakening! Who knows what alluring treasures and buried riches await you on the other side.

Next up is the latest version of a game that many will likely have fond memories of from the original release in 1990 – Star Control is back!!

This latest version is called Star Control: Origins. You are the Captain of Earth’s very first interstellar ship – Congratulations! There’s just one tiny problem. It’s barely worth mentioning but a powerful alien species known as the Scryve want to exterminate humanity. We need you to go out and find allies, upgrade your ship and save the universe! Discover and use these so-called Precursor relics to upgrade your ship and try to avoid getting eaten along the way so that you can save humanity.

No pressure though. Just the very future of the human race rests on your shoulders 🙂

The next one is sure to have us running, jumping, slicing and dicing around Greece in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey!

This latest story in the Assassin’s Creed saga carries us into the biggest war so far. Demonstrate your warrior’s abilities in large-scale battles between Athens and Sparta featuring hundreds of soldiers, or ram and cleave your way through entire fleets in naval battles across the Aegean Sea. Your decisions will impact how your odyssey unfolds, with multiple endings thanks to the new dialogue system working with the choices you make. Customize your gear, ship, and special abilities to become a legend in new environments including lush vibrant forests, volcanic islands and bustling cities.
