Good Gaming – For Honor BETA begins!

GGPC For Honor Beta Access Code via SCAR

UPDATE: An OPEN BETA is coming up this weekend! (Likely start early morning 10th of Feb)

The BETA tests for upcoming Ubisoft hack’n’slash For Honor is about to begin and this ones got a pretty cool way to get yourself an access code so you can join in the fun!

To get your access code you’ll have to design your own custom weapon via the Scars For Honor Website which involves scrolling your mouse wheel like crazy (using the infinity scroll mouse wheel on the G502 is oh so perfect for this :P) which will take you through a battle scene with your chosen faction warrior – you can pick Samurai, Knight or Viking right at the beginning.

As the fight continues and your hero defends the mighty blows scars will appear on your weapon – CLICK THE GOLD MARKER BESIDE THESE!

Once you hit the right scar you’ll be treated to a sweet video about your chosen warrior then be taken to a screen in which you get to design your own weapon, at this point you can switch between sword, katana and axe (even if you’ve just done one warriors path) and when you find the one you like you can tweak the blade, grip and guard to make it your own – once completed you’ll be asked to sign into your Ubisoft account and given a BETA access game code \o/

We’ve jumped in with our own GTX 1050 Gaming PC to see what this one’s like and it’s a tonne of fun, below is gameplay with FPS details and settings used while we battle fight to keep our castle!

Good Gaming – Halo Wars 2 Blitz BETA

GGPC Halo Wars 2 BETA

For a limited time those fine folks at Microsoft have made the new Halo Wars 2 Blitz Beta available to Windows 10 PC users and you can download it now via the Windows Store 🙂 This early access sample gives us a go at a new game mode designed to put players right into the action.

Blitz is a new twist on gameplay that combines card-based strategy with action packed RTS combat. Your card deck is your army in Blitz as you build collections of powerful Halo vehicles and troops and command those units in fast-action battles.

The Halo Wars 2: Blitz Beta is available to try out for yourself until January 30th, you’ll and the full game is set to release February 18th in NZ.

We’ve captured a quick round on with our own GTX 1050 Hero Gaming PC so you can check things out, with no bases to produce units in Halo Wars the card system is used to strengthen your armies and the currency drop effectively replaced the traditional resource harvesting we had in games like Star Craft and C&C.

Players will also find nine Mountain Stories – narrative-based challenges that will delve deeper into unique moments in the world of Steep – throughout their journey. Completing these challenges and Mountain Stories will also unlock new gear for players to customize their characters.”

While the wingsuit and races took up most of our time in the closed BETA tests last weekend this time around we’ll be hunting for snow parks in free roam mode, you’ll find these all over the game map and they’ve got things like half pipes and other structures for busting out grabs, grinds and also specially designed ramps so we can practice up and nail the biggest jumps 🙂

Good Gaming – Battlefield 1 OPEN BETA begins!

Battlefield 1 Beta

UPDATE: You can now download the Battlefield 1 BETA here

It’s time to go boots on the ground at the dawn of all-out war! The Battlefield 1 Open Beta has begun and we’ve started testing out graphics cards for our GGPC YouTube performance test channel with the two game modes on offer – Conquest & Rush \o/

This Battlefield 1 beta takes us into battle on the Sinai Desert map, which features horseback combat, dogfighting in planes and an epic looking armoured train of death! The map supports 64 players so the action should be thick and fast.

Kicking our frame rate tests off we jumped into a game with the new and very affordable Gigabyte RX 460 Graphics Card, we got solid performance from the little GPU and wow does this game look GOOD!

Next we check out the GTX 1060 Gaming Laptop performance and things are looking very good indeed on this new generation of mobile gaming systems, keeping our heads well above 60FPS in the Sanai Desert Conquest.

For those looking to turn up those graphics settings we’ve got the massive Gigabyte GTX 1080 Graphics Card which dominated Battlefield 1 at 1080p but also performed amazingly at 4K!

We’ll continue checking out more graphics card performance with the Battlefield 1 BETA so keep an eye out for more videos soon – there’s certainly a lot going on in the map!

When one side needs a boost, an Armored Train Behemoth will be spawned in order to up the challenge for the stronger team. The train offers a range of weapons and can make a huge difference if used effectively. This means the opposing team will need to adjust to the new presence. Bomber planes are pretty effective if their pilots’ aim stays true, though the train is also susceptible to a surprise attack by an organized group on horseback armed with anti-vehicle grenades. But as you might expect, the Armored Train won’t go down without a fight.

The map also offers different weather than many of the others, including the occasional sandstorm that wreaks havoc on visibility and the gameplay dynamics. Strong winds blowing up sand is bad news for snipers and planes alike, though skilled pilots may be able to take advantage of the chaos. Things like these sandstorms and the variety of locations makes sure you can have just as fun with any of the infantry classes as you can with vehicles, and create a great variation of intensity throughout the map.

And while there’s a ton to do on the ground, there’s just as much going on in the skies. One of the flags can be even taken by plane if you have the skills to safely fly inside the capture zone – you’ll want to make sure to disable the Anti-Aircraft on the ground first, though, as someone could be lurking around on the ground just waiting for you to fly in. If you’re more interested in dogfights, there’s plenty of interesting opportunities for that as well and some of the people at DICE claim to have gotten pretty good at ditching would-be attackers by flying through the canyon without crashing – challenge accepted!

With so many great new games coming out of final testing and about to release there is no better time than now to get in some new applications for new beta game tests!

If you like Hearthstone you might also want to check out the Elder Scrolls Legends BETA, a competitive strategy card game set in the Elder Scrolls universe.  Currently, Legends is in a closed beta under strict NDA. You must agree to the NDA before you are eligible and as a result you cannot record video or stream the game.  You’ll just have to enjoy this one for yourself!

Action survival shooters more your thing? Check out the Escape from Tarkov BETA.

UPDATE: They’ve just done the live stream below as well and from what we are seeing – it’s looking great!

Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features. The players will have to experience living in the skin of one of the mercenaries who survived the initial stage of the Tarkov conflict and after choosing one of the sides – USEC or BEAR – the player’s character must start to make his way out of the city. Tarkov is sealed off by UN and Russian military, supply chains are cut, communication with operational command is lost, and in these conditions everyone has to make his own choices of what to do and how to get out of the chaos-ridden metropolis.

How about large starship to starship combat with the new Dreadnaught BETA.  A game all about big spaceships 🙂 Take command of a gargantuan flying battleship in an ever-expanding sci-fi universe as you fight in teams on battlefields around the galaxy. Choose between five unique ship classes, customized and armed with the most powerful weapons (including nukes!).  This game is looking pretty good and if you’re really keen to jump right in you can grab a founders pack to get instant access to the beta test.

Of course this is just small slice of what’s out there right now, we’ll be keeping an eye on the Battlefield 1 BETA and be sure to keep your eyes on our computers blog for the latest updates – exciting times ahead!
